General Broken door hinge weld

Hi,

The drivers door on my facelift has suddenly dropped, caused by metal on the door itself cracking around the weld for the hinge.

Searching the forum it looks like it’s been an issue on vans, but wondered if anyone had experienced the same, and whether it was just a case of removing the door and having it re-welded? (and if so, any tips on bracing/strengthening the area)

Sadly I've just bought an '06 facelift with the same problem around the top hinge! Did you get it sorted Tony?

Hi, yes sorted and less painful than I expected.

I took the door off, hammered the hinge back into position where the crack had opened up and got a local welder to run a seam round it.

It cost me £20 and he did it without any damage to the paint, trim or electrics.
