Technical Broken brake sensor detector wire on Fiat Ducato 2006

Hi All,

I have a Fiat Ducato 2006 (which is a Knaus campervan).

Was having trouble with the brake light detection system (light was always on) so was underneath fiddling with some of the brake wires and accidentally pulled the brake detection wire off (see attached photo) and now of course the brake light stays off.

We need this fixed as we won't pass the vehicle inspection if the light doesn't come on at all.

Can this wire be re-attached to get it working again?

If you take one bolt out of the brake caliper it is sometimes possible to swing it out of the way and get to the brake pad with the wear indicator .
Some you can refix, but others may need you to buy a set of new brake pads with wear indicators.
Note, obviously fit to both sides of vehicle for brake balance if you have to change the brake pads.
Apart from that I have often seen vehicles (where the wear indicator is a single wire that has to short out against the metal brake disc to tell the wear indicator light to come on) with the wires permanently disconnected. The only danger is were people don't have the brakes checked regularly and the pads wear down so badly they damage the brake discs so you end up buying a pair of brake discs as well as the brake pads.

I think that to effect any repair involving a brake caliper, other than bleeding the hydraulic system, you will have to remove the wheel. This requires the vehicle to be jacked up and supported.

One of the two bolts that fit through these sliders, once release will allow caliper to swing out the way usually and yes jacked up, supported safely with wheel off.
