Hey all,

I serviced the fiat 500 today and when i took the airbox off to do spark plugs and air filter, i noticed that the small hose that goes into the back of the air box is starting to split. Where does this hose connect to? Is it easy to replace? It looked like it was headed to under the throttle body, but not sure.

From looking at eper it looks to be part number 51888291. but in case of doubt it's this bit circled in red.

Many thanks!

Think it goes to the back of the manifold underneath the throttle body on the right side below and behind the thermostat housing!, the throttle body, the throttle body is easy to remove just 4 bolts and an electrical connector to undo! you should be able to trace it back easily by hand!
thanks for that. I was looking at the throttle body thinking it's just four bolts but wanted to check to see if anyone knew where it went first.

Will get a new hose ordered (y)

Hi. I have been looking for that hose for ages (mine is split as well) and I do not know what part number is or how to order it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Though if you know the inner and outer dia, just buy 1m of silicone hose from Ebay?

HI again!
Thank you, John202020.
I manage to find the inner diameter (4.8 mm) and I wanted to order some silicone tubes but I thought that because of the vacuum (I think it is vacuum) it may collapse.
So I ordered some reinforced fuel hose (5 mm, should be fine). It will arrive tomorrow.
Thank you very much and have a good day!

Buy a length from eBay. MUCH cheaper and you can extend it a fraction which makes removing the airbox easier. I did a guide ion the Panda section which might be worth a quick look. Its laughingly known as the big breather hose.

I'm attempting the very same repair myself, however the spigot attaching the breather hose has been pulled off in its entirety from the air filter box and left a hole where the spigot used to be.

To resolve this I'm going to attempt the method Jernas outlined in the following thread:

Upon inspecting the smaller diameter hose that used to connect here - it appeared to be split/cracking and the snapped off spigot is fused into the end so I think the entire hose needs replacing.

@Bodisan - How did you get on with the 5mm reinforced fuel hose? I've read that the manifold end is closer to 8mm - so did you have any trouble attaching the 5mm to this end?

Can anyone recommend the right diameter / type of hose to replace this and also advise on where this joins at the other (non-airbox) end?

E.g. does the throttle body need removing to access the other end of the hose?

Hi and sorry for the late reply.
The hose was a perfect fit, the engine noise changed after replacing it. Bought it from Amazon, it was 7 pounds for 1m. I bought a 5 mm dia, but 6 & 8 are also available. The brand I bought was called Hanibos, fuel hose.
Hope this helps, if there is anything I can do, please let me know.

Have a nice day!

Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the throttle body (via the 4 bolts and electrical connector ) for easier cleaning without having to inititate any kind of re-learn procedure when re-attaching it once cleaned?

Yes and Yes :) Done it many times.

Pleased to report I carried out the repair today (including fully cleaning the rather oily throttle body) and the car is now running very smoothly. Let's hope this solves my long-running Engine Management Light issues!
