I'm planning a 6 week trip to Portugal in September going via Spain (Santander) and exiting at Calais(channel tunnel) I'm a member of RAC and Camping and Caravanning Club and have checked out prices for european breakdown cover. They seem quite excessive for My F.D. 1.9TD motorhome which is more than 10 years old.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best but not necessarily the cheapest way of arranging breakdown cover. Last year I read about ADAC the German equivalent of the AA/RAC and have been into their website. It looks as if I can get some kind of european cover for about 97 euros but I have to ring them in Germany to sort it out.
Any info would be gratefully accepted. What do other motorhome users do for breakdown cover.

Hi,

My breakdown cover is arranged by my insurance company as an add-on to the policy (I've done this on the basis that they already know the size & weight so there can be no quibbling about this if I did have to make a call-out)

However it's not cheap, it costs around £70:(

Thanks for that info. I was going to check out my insurance company as you suggested when I realised that I have insurance through the Camping and Caravanning Club and although this is relatively cheap I have read that they are quite expensive as far as european breakdown cover goes. Still no harm in checking .
