My insurance ran out last November and as my gf has a car she doesnt use I didnt bother renewing it straight away. I'm looking to put the car back on the road soon.
I went to jump start the car last weekend only to find the car wouldnt start.

Here's the problem...
- Have tried leads to battery and disconnecting the battery and putting jumps leads straigh onto my leads.
- The starter motor doesnt even tick over.
- You simply turn the key, the alarm goes off and then nothing.

Is the immobalizer preventing the fuel pumps from working? How do I disable the alarm alltogether. There is no master switch in the fusebox like on EU cars.

I live near a hill, can the car be bump started?

HELP!!!

You need a battery connected, even to jump start it. If it's too dead to jump start you won't be able to bump start it either! The only way is to put another battery on. Try the gf's battery lol.

What I did try was disconnecting my battery and running the jumps leads off my gf battery straight to my battery points. The battery in the other car was still connected to the battery points in that car...

If the starter motor ain't turning its stuck, hit it with a hammer or pipe a few times on the small round part (bendix) to try to free it.

starting problems

if you put the jump leads back on from another car turn your ignition on and put your lights on when yuo try to start the car if the lights dim right down there is still not enough power coming from the battery or the starter is stuck get someone to turn the ignition key while somebody else taps the starter solonoid and starter motor as they sometimes both get stuck through standing

If you live on a large hill it should be able to be bump started aslong as it is a starter/battery problem... when the engine spins as you lift the clutch in second the alternator WILL give enough power to spark it, the engine is already spinning too so you dont need power for a starter.

mar and a hill its all you need.

if it starts then you can leave it running to charge battery after abit turn it off and see if you can get it back on. if not id say battery.
