Hi all,

just wondering if there is a safe way to add a BOV to the 1.4 Sport? When i shift gears I can hear the air suction very clear from the inside of the car, which suprised me. My mates mum had a Toyota Corolla Turbo and you couldnt hear it at all... But I would like it a bit more noticable... anyone do that yet?

Also the Turbo is sooooooo small yet so much power... i am amazed... I am new with TC's. How many HP is this turbo? What can you replace it with which would be safe for the engine? Plus if you change the Turbo... what other things do you need to consider?

Thanks in advance..

hiya mate,

right then, firstly you 'can' add a B.O.V to the 1.4t-jet but tbh it doenst really affect the engine much, the standard re-circ works a treat. the main reason you can't hear the air being 'dumped' is the standard airbox set up is very muffled. your ebst ebt is to replace this with a cone/mushroom filter on the end with all the ancilleray attachments on the induction pipe.

secondley, if im correct Fiat only releaed the rbavo t-jet in 150 form so your HP shouldbe roughly somwhere below 160hp.

thirdly, you can change the turbo to whatever turbo you would like to be completely honest, but dependent on turbo and power output. alot wil need to be changed. brakes, suspension, induction, exhaust, lower comp pistons (dependent on power) the list goes on and on.

so far the majority of tuners have jsut scratched the surface, except scorpion tuning from italy who have managed to produce 265hp from the t-jet in there grande punto.
the engine is remarkabley well built, and very promising for high power.

oh btw welcome to FF, Claw.

Thank you so much for the information...

So I take it, leave the car as it is... maybe just add a BOV for sound... (which is what I wanted) Otherwise I am looking at big money for an upgrade (MOD) on the engine...

Regarding the filter... So if I change the filter to a POD filter like e.g. K&N and then I will get the after noise (air dump) once the air is released? Problem is in Australia there arent many (maybe no place at all) place that will have parts for the Fiat. Its very rare here.

I do not want to upgrade for power increase I just want the sound.

tbh this is what I like...

hks ssqv has a great sound but i think the best solution is a e-bov ( like bonalume has ) to replace the standard re-circ. one. I't was mentioned on this forum that a mechanical bov is not the best solution..

What does a re-circ mean? Im not good with this stuff as yet sorry... any pictures?

Manufacturers fit recirculating BOVs to achieve three outcomes:

To reduce the noise caused by compressor surge on throttle closure
To speed-up turbo response following gearchanges
To reduce airflow metering problems caused by reverse flow back through the airflow meter on throttle closure

Ausritmo, How is your car mate? Im looking at possibly getting the dualogic gearbox in a Ritmo when they come to Australia this year? What are your thoughts on the car before I take the plunge?

Hi Mate,

Well honestly you can't go wrong with the manual!

If you have issues with the dualogic it may put you off the car as its NEW technology for the Ritmo/Bravo...

I dont like Auto cars. So i say manual all the way IMO.

But if you dont mind the auto feel then go for it I guess ;)

So basicaly placing an after market BOV is not a good idea because the Bravo/Ritmo has electronics that may cause issues?

I also got told from a friend that if I just change the air filter to a POD filter it will give a nice sound and that there is no need for a BOV.

Those who have done any mods regarding this will be welcome to respond please.

i have ordered an aftermarket air filter and will soon order an e-bov for my 150. Will see how that combination will work with the already changed exaust
