Also, for someone keeping their foot over the clutch the whole time, it's all too tempting through tiredness to start resting just a little much on the clutch pedal and that means the clutch bearing is being used all the time rather than just when using the clutch and hey ho it's new clutch bearing required time- hundreds of pounds to get at it to change it and usually may as well put a whole new clutch in- just because of having nowhere to rest your clutch foot

Often people burn out a clutch bearing before they realise they've been doing it.

I have my right foot 'hovering' over clutch pedal & never had to change a clutch on any of my cars (except old toyota which clutch was slipping when i got it) in 26 years also developes stronger left foot so you can play left or right sided positions when playing football:)

On long journeys I sometimes tuck my left foot under but problem that annoys me more is my knees rubbing gear lever or door trim especially on GP's.

"Hovering" over the clutch is fine of course (mind you, having your "right foot hovering over the clutch pedal" is quite a challenge!:)) but it's as tiring and uncomfortable as it sounds if you can't get your heel on the ground too and in a lot of cars you can't.

Hovering can easily turn into "riding" the clutch and many people wreck the clutch bearing and their wallet in finding out why it's a bad idea to have your foot resting, even a small amount, on the clutch pedal all the time. Bearing £20 Fitting £200-300

After that they don't tend to do it again

I tried this, but it's not that safe. I think it depends on how wide your feet are... in my case I must first pull my leg back before I can lift it onto the pedal: if the gap between clutch pedal & centre console was literally one cm wider I could lift my foot up and down alongside the pedal.

I test drove a Bravo Eco last week and loved it. I have an Alfa 147 at the mo and looking for a similar feel but with a little more practicality...family stuff! I have size 12 feet and the clutch problem drove me crazy in the space of 10 minutes. I tried pulling my leg back and putting my foot under the pedal, but worry that will become very annoying when stuck in traffic. Can't risk spending £14k on a car I won't want to drive. Has anyone heard whether Fiat intend to sort this, or can you buy a footrest (perhaps from a Punto) and screw it on? Still seems a bit mad on a brand new car though.

Love my driving position, the lack of footrest annoyed me at first, but now i just lay it in front of the pedals it does the same job....

i have to admit the lack of a foot rest would mean no sale for me.

my mother feels the same way about cup holders.

i'll never understand that, and she'll never understand why i need a footrest. that is the fundamental difference between a pepsi addict and a man with size 13 feet.

I have my right foot 'hovering' over clutch pedal .

How do you do that T? Clutch pedal is on the left no matter where the car is used or comes from...
