Sorry to enter the forum with a moan and hopefully someone can help. My sister has a 2000 Bravo 1.2 16v which failed its MOT on high emissions. Garage said cyl head gasket gone so £1000+ repair. Might as well call it a day as economically pointless.
Took for 2nd opinion. Definitely not cyl; head gasket. Cat converter new so garage fitted new Lambda sensor bringing emissions down but still not within MOT standard. Mechanic reported he'd "tried everything" but admitted he couldn't find a any fault readings on diagnostic after engine flush, oil and filters changed. Collected car still with no MOT but a few quid lighter. He said there were symptoms of over fueling and tickover when first started is v low... despite 2 other mechanics on the job, no collective solution.
I realise there might be 100 reasons for this but does anyone know what might be the cause so that we can economically repair the car?
Thank you in anticipation
Steve
