I wonder if the replacement has the same

00051795527

I am guessing that if the part numbers are the same the software will be otherwise when it’s integrated via the canbus the response will not be as expected. I have no way of checking

Assuming the garage is correct with a motor fault you could have changed just the motor
Wasnt just the motor it was what ever holds the software that died.
Iv just fitted another second hand unit. From the same year model engine size etc and I have no errors on the dash

Hi all, Have a Fiat Bravo 2009, manual. This morning it had a power steering warning light and the power steering was dead, really heavy steering. Called road side assist and they cleared the codes, power steering system was restored except for a slight judder turning the steering wheel to the left while the vehicle was stationary. The car has been restarted 2-3 times since then with no problems, no error messages - is this the usual Fiat Bravo OBD throwing random faults? Dont want to get stuck on the side of the road with another failure but dont want to spend a lot of money fixing something that isn't actually broken.

Hi

What were the codes?

Main ' failures ' are Power Supply

Good battery.. good Alternator and good power cables..

Torque sensors within the unit are the one common 'true fault' this will leave a specific code..

Low voltage can leave all kinds of weird codes.. as a sensor is robbed of voltage.. it will flag an error.

Hi, not sure of the codes as I called roadside assist, but battery is nearly new, vehicle has only 80,000K on the clock. But have had two ongoing faults that come and go - one is seatbelt warning, they have been all checked and nothing is wrong with them, the other error is brakes warning - this started after all the brakes were done about a year ago, and I had them checked, so I know these two faults are not problems, and I'm guessing they were the two other codes that were cleared. Probably should have asked him for the codes!

Is it like this

Engine running, car stationary, steering wheel vibration when turning left

Probably not as violent as the video but felt through the steering wheel and a buzzing

Hi, yes, engine running, car is stationary, does it when turning left. Didn't hear a buzzing sound, and can only feel if holding the steering wheel - very subtle, cant see it vibrating.

90% of the time power steering faults are a simple fix

unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to be an easy cheap fix in this case

I don’t know what your ability, experience are

It may be better to seeking professional advice as they will have the specialist equipment to interrogate the torque sensor

About the only simple test you can try

This is better on grass or gravel. Raise the REVS to around 2.5K and rapidly turn the steering wheel as fast as possible lock to lock a couple of times

Sometimes recalibrates things but it’s a bit of a long shot. I suspect the torque sensor is on its way out. But it not easy to test with home equipment

OK - many thx - I made the decision with this car that all repairs be done by specialists unless it was really straight forward. It's only done around 80,000KM, so a bit annoyed it should play up now. Will see what the bill looks like - may not be worth fixing as the car is only worth around 3-4000.00 NZD now.

Hello everyone. I have a similar problem with the power steering bravo 2 1.4 T-jet 120KM. MES showed the following errors: ABS C1117 steering angle sensor signal; ESP C1007 power steering motor, C1013 control unit faulty. The problem appeared a year ago, but after restarting it disappeared. It hasn't disappeared for a week now. Where to start diagnostics?

Go through the checks in post 11 is all cheap and free

However
C1013

Normally points to a corrupt configuration information I don't have the correct software to fix

Should be simple fix for someone with the the correct equipment. Unfortunately I suspect they will try and charge for a refurbished unit

Hi all, follow up on this issue after finally getting it sorted. First up - the battery needed replacing. They spent a lot of time on the steering issue - bought a new steering column put it in, took it for a test drive and it was fine. Next test drive it started throwing codes saying it was configured to another vehicle and other random codes. In the end they dismantled my steering column, found the steering motor was burnt out, replaced that, cost me nearly as much as the car is worth here - I'm too scared to drive it - lol - think I've lost my faith in Fiats - bring back the Marea! As my car has only done 80,000K I'm a bit annoyed - but I've lived West Coast of the South Island (New Zealand) rugged, narrow twisting, turning roads, so assuming this car was just not built to handle this. Expected more from a sports car though
