There is a hissing sound from the engine bay when the engine is cold only for a couple of mins then it completely disappears,is this normal on cold bravos?

oil and bearing

check the engine oil level and next time u get an oil change use synthetic or semi synthetic as is produces less wear on engine. could also be the bearing on various pulleys and tensioners. if car has done less then 70,000 check cambelt tensioner, more than then check when cambelt was change to see if the tensioner was replaced. should have been but bearings is more likley.

only done

32000 miles was my brothers car has always been serviced at fiat so should have synthetic oil anyway,i can't see it being the tensioner at this mileage?

yea its normal

Owned two 1.8 hlx's in the past, a mark 1 and 2. They both made a hissing noise when the engine is on choke. if you look at the rev counter you will notice it always happens when the engine is idleing at 1000rpm once it drops to 850 rpm it is fine. dont worry did 50 000 miles in the first bravo did it from the start and my second i owned from 7000 and it did it then until i sold it!

thx ryan

obviously it's normal, and it does sound like the choke, thx for that.
