There really is no comparison. I've owned both and the 1.6 16v has more torque, more top end and is quicker to 60.
Who voted 1.2 16v!?

It's heavier, not a lot heavier. 400cc makes a lot of difference. Trust me, the Bravo is a quicker car. If I lived near you I'd race you in my 1.6 Brava and you could admire the nice rear lights.
Mine is pushing 100bhp so you wouldn't win in a standard Bravo

That's because weight and BHP aren't the only factors nor often as important as you're considering.
