General Brava idling problem

Hi all,

It's a 1.6 petrol (W reg) and has developed a nasty habit of cutting out when the accelerator pedal is released. It will happily restart and operate for a few minutes before stalling again, perhaps at a junction. A possible clue is that on cold starting it runs roughly for a few minutes as though overfuelling. Any ideas?

i'd think the idle speed control valve may be blocked, what rpm does it idle at?
also sounds like the coolant temp sensor could be to blame.
a diagnostic check is probably the best thing to do.
