serial number is on a sticker, you need to remove it from dash to find it.

and to find the stereo code software, there was a post only a few days on fiatforum with a link to several of them available for download. i'll try to find it, 1 min :)

Hi, i have removed battery, battery housing and ECU from the car to allow full access to the gearbox, but i do not know what the temperature sensor looks like or where it is.

I have taken a picture of the gearbox and will find a way to get it on the computer.

If you know where the temperature sensor is, or what it looks like, please tell me :)

Didnt really count the connectors like, but i came accross;

2 wires kept on by bolts which disappear away some where to the right hand side, these come from the front lower area of the gear box

2 sets of electrical plug-type things at the top of the gearbox, connected with a whole load of wires tucked away :S

the 2 wires that are bolted to the gearbox must be earth straps.

the big bunch of wires goes to the 16 pin connector, although it could be 2 connectors. either way from that connector(s) you can test the sensor's resistance to see if its within the expected range (as described in my PM last week)

i asked fiat over the weekend if the temp sensor can be changed easily and how much they charge for one. the guy i spoke to said the parts department was closed so i couldn't get a price (it was saturday :bang: ) but he said he was sure you can't replace the sensor without removing the gearbox. i find that very hard to believe, and i often (always) get bad advice if i dont speak to someone i know so i'm taking it with a pinch of salt unitl i get confirmaiton from a more reliable source.

but first things first, a full fluid change is always worth a try. (y)
