Hi guys and gals,

I've spent almost an hour reading through search results but can't find an answer to my problem, so here goes:

On Saturday my girlfriend had the car when the batteries in the blue remote key died. She then unlocked the car with the key and predictably the alarm went off when she opened the door. She replaced the batteries but now the remote has no effect on the CL or alarm. The alarm has stopped but the red led on the centre console is still flashing, presumably because the alarm was not turned off.

I understand it is possible to turn off/reset the alarm using the little key/lock next to the fuse box underneath the steering wheel. The key I have fits into the lock but it will not turn.

Has anyone had this problem before and can anyone suggest a solution??

If it makes any difference the car is a P reg 97 Brava 1.6 ELX

Hi,

Iv had the same problem before!

Iv got a bravo and my battery went dead when i was at a petrol station. I locked my car and then came back after paying for petrol and couldnt get back in to my car! I looked like a complete muppet setting of my alarm in a petrol station! lol

Basically what happened was it wasnt the battery, the button on the key which you push to lock/unlock the car comes loose and the connections break (even if they look like they're touching). I only found that out after having a new key and then a new reciever for my car as the new key wouldnt pair with my old reviever.

Just open the key and re-solder the 4 connections from the little button thingy and the curcuit board and you should be ok! (or do what i did - take off the button, bend the connetors down a bit and then super glue the middle to the board so that the connectors are pussed to gether!) lol

Another option is to get a new key from a fiat dealer and get them to pair it with your car. cost me about £150

Thanks,

Lee

Cheers for the info.

The light on the remote flashes when the button is pressed. Will this still happen with broken connectors?

i have got the same problem aswell. know i have to lock and unlock the car with the keys.

It can do,

But if the light is flashing then your best bet is to take it to a fiat dealership and get them to re-pair the key and car.

Or they'll just charge you for a new key (about £150)

and maybe a new reciever if the new key does not pair properly which racked up £350 when i had it done by alan gibsons.

Thanks,

Lee
