brava 1.4 gearlever gate problem

My wife has a 50,000 mile Brava 1.4.I'm in the motor trade myself and got one of our dealerships(Toyota,we don't have Fiat-sorry!)to fit a new clutch.Ever since the gear lever can be moved too far to the lower left,and will jam until neutral is carefully selected.It's like having a detent removed on reverve-you can select a "gear" that isn't there.The dealership haven't a clue what's wrong-it was fine before.Hve they fitted the selector rod wrong/left something out.Please help because my wife doesn't trust the car after 9 years and I'd like to fix it for domestic peace!

If its the same as the 1.2 and has cables for the gear linkage the the cables just need ajusting.
Mine was like that and first and second gear were practaly in the passenger footwell LOL.
