Hi everyone have a 2.0l fiat coupe looking to change Master cylinder where's the location is it under battery tray

Model
Vis coupe
Year
1999
Find the fluid reservoir, follow the fluid feed pipe/s.

One at least will go to the brake master cylinder.

If your 2l fiat has a hydraulic clutch release mech mech, then one will also go to the clutch master cylinder as well.

What model and year is the car ?

The master cylinder is at the pedal end, and the slave cylinder is bolted onto the bellhousing directly under the battery tray.
I'm about to change both on my Coupe once the parts arrive. The slave cylinder looks straight forward enough, but the master cylinder could be a bear, fixings and fittings are standard...but access makes it difficult. I'll let you know how I get on!

Forgot to ask...what is your issue?

Sorry just noticed that this is a brake master cylinder question...duh!

The master cylinder for the footbrake is connected to the brake pedal via the servo unit, drivers side bulkhead.

Hi, if you need any parts please check out Fiatdirectparts.co.uk. Thanks
Fish Bros Swindon are a dealer specifically on my avoid list for many years since I needed to do business and not finding a helpful response at all. Dealers seem to fail to acknowledge that some people have long memories and once bitten NEVER return. While a discount may be available from a dealer, there jolly well should be as most dealer parts prices are between 4 and 10 times which is scandelous and totally out of line with what the market in general offers.

shop4parts has been consistently the best option for me for the last 12 years. genuine Fiat parts with the hologram packaging and being often 20 to 60% less. In every case they have been able to supply even quite difficult parts at worst at dealer prices but mostly at a HUGE saving

Fiat genuine parts are mostly better than pattern parts, but not always, and the cost is an outrage so look at alternative makes carefully before making a decision. The idea of a dealer helping with old cars is frankly laughable in my personal experience. They are failing for my 2019 car and previous experience is that over 5 years old they struggle and over 10 years old are a waste of time. On 30+ year old cars the suggestion they can help is very amusing.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for explaining your reasons so clearly. I’m genuinely sorry to hear that you’ve had such negative encounters in the past—experiences like that do stay with people, and I completely understand why it’s shaped your view.
I also appreciate you outlining what has worked well for you. It’s good to hear that shop4parts have consistently looked after you and provided genuine Fiat parts at competitive prices. Finding a supplier you trust is invaluable, especially when dealing with older vehicles where availability and quality can vary so much.

While I can’t change your past experience, I do want you to know that we are constantly working to improve the way we support customers, including those running older models. Our aim is always to be helpful, transparent, and fair on pricing wherever possible.
If there’s ever anything specific you need, or if you’d be open to us trying to assist differently moving forward, I’d be more than happy to help. No pressure at all—just an offer should you ever want it.

Thanks again for your honest feedback; it’s genuinely appreciated
