Brake Vacuum pump fitting

I have recently changed the timing chain on a 1.6 Hdi engine, all together except for brake vacuum pump which I cannot get to fit, I guess I am doing something wrong, please enlighten me

I guess I am not the only one to struggle with this, I just cannot get the pump to turn enough to get the bolts started

I don't know the actual installation, but if the pump mechanism moves in and out it may need turning to its fully in position to allow fitment. Or turn the drive around instead.
Or have you forgotten a spacer block?

You say 1.6HDi. More details would also be helpful. And perhaps re-post in the section relevant to the actual vehicle, as many forum contributors only browse their own sections.
