General brake problem

Hi all have a problem with my brakes .Had the cylenders done , and brake fluid changed.
With the hand brake raised before it starts to bite. i get a full pedal and lots of breaks. But with the hand break in the normal driving position i have to pump the breaks to stop.

Is the master cylender knackered?or do i just need to adjust hand brake? its a 91 ducato motorhome.2.5 diesal

hi your rear brakes are not adjusted up..what is happening is when the hand brake is on the rear shoes are held tight against the shoes so you have no excess pedal travel but when the handbrake is off the shoes return far too much because they are out of adjustment you need to pump the pedel to make them contact the drums hope this makes sense regards ken
