Hi All, was advised by the clever computer this morning that one of the brake light globes are gone. How do you get into the unit to replace it?

Also someone asked sometime ago about the hidden features of the Stilo, well I discovered one, it tells you when brake light globe is gone.

Interesting to note that I had one of the headlights out the other day, but was not warn about that. Must deemed the brake light to be more critically than the headlight??

Gerhard

Might indeed be a bulb and might be something else ..I had a bad earth on the fog lamps on my 5dr that did that all the time..never got round to actually sorting it as well..check to see.. the bulb might still be good..

I'm with Phil on that, but that said on 2 occasions our Stilo advised us of a rear lamp failure & both times it was the bulb. Stilo needs EXACTLY the right bulbs by the way... you have to remove the light unit by finding & undoing the 4 nuts from inside the boot behind the lamp cluster... be VERY careful not to drop any! You wont get them back & they will rattle... it's easy enough to do.

Regards no Headlamp warning, it's reasonable to assume you would notice a failed Headlamp bulb in the dark, no necessarily so in the daylight from inside the car...

Thanks all for the input, will do it over the week-end and give feedback. Noticed this morning that one of the front fog lights is also dead.

Just be methodical & take care with the nuts...

Hi All,

Here the promised feedback. For once a simple job to do.
1. Remove the carpet cover.
2. Carefully unclip the electrical connection. (Try not to pull it out on the wiring, you WILL pull some out)
3. Unbolt the 3 nuts, (yes the one's that you have to look after)
4. Pull the whole light cluster away from the body.
5. Unscrew the 4 screws and unclip the two plastic retainers that is holding the rubber cover in place.
6. Replace the offending bulb.
7. Reverse process and presto done!!

Tip: While I had the cluster out, I took out and cleaned all the other bulbs, I found that the light intensity improved on all of them.(?)

And, I found another hidden feature, if while closing a front window, something gets caught between the window and the frame, it will automatically go down again, after contact with the object. Neat hey?
