Having real difficulty separating the connection between the brake hoses and pipes on the front brakes. Starting to round of the nuts. should i just cut the pipe above the connection, which means needing to buy a flaring tool and new couplings, or should i just replace all the front brake pipes. reading up on this and copper seems to be acceptable and easy to install.

Depending on how long ago this was last done, before you do anything be sure first that you can remove the line from the calliper and get the bleed nipple off.
If you cant do that plan on not being able to use the car for a few days!

For the cost I would replace the hose and the line, the line runs up though the arch and in to the engine bay, its about 1.5m the union here seems to be ok as its protected a bit more.

Get your self a flaring tool and some coper line. I went with coper as ability to bend and adjust was more important than life span.

Thanks for the reply

I already have the calipers disconnected, but i sheared of the bleed nipple on one side.
I need to replace the piston seal on the other side, so i think i'm going to buy reconditioned calipers anyway.
Another thing i noticed. I have already ordered new hoses, and i noticed the male threads at the caliper end of the hose are longer than the female threads of the caliper. is this normal, i would have expected the face of the nut to sit flush with the caliper face. When i removed the secondf caliper i noted this was the case, you could see a couple of threads of the connector between the faces.

that should be fine with the threads. i would stick some underseal on the nut and threads to give them a bit of protection should you ever have to change a flexi hose again.

for the connection of flexi to solid brake pipe.. yeah they can be tough. a pair of stilsons work well. pretty sure that the brake hose is 15mm or 17mm.

if it is on steel pipes i would replace them anyway. making brake pipes is actually quite enjoyable (just me found this?) and a cheap flaring tool works really well. just dont forget to put the union up the pipe first before you flare it!

i think it was £7 from ebay for a flare tool and its £10 for more than enough brake pipe to completely re-pipe the whole car!

my fallout panda has all new brake pipes on it. was not that hard of a job to do to be fair :D

Anyone Know what size of pipe i require? is it 3/16" (4.75mm) OD? i can measure tonight but want to get some ordered.
male M10 x 1.0mm at both the master cylinder and joint at the hose?
