Right guys, a little strange, but here goes

I work in a garage and one of the things we use is aerosol brake cleaner. Every so often, when a truck won't start, we use it as cheap easy start.

One of the guys said to me, I should run a pipe into the air intake, from the passenger side of the car, so a mate could spray brake cleaner down in it too see what would happen.

Now I won't be doing this on the road, because I don't want anything bouncing off the underside off th bonnet, but what would it actually do to the car? On TDs it eats away at seals/gaskets, and the engine become addicted to it. But what would it do on my Punto Mk2 1.2 8v?

Tbh, I have no problem trying it on the drive, to see what would happen. But I was wondering if anybody knew of any seals, gaskets or sensor in particular, that would be damaged from this. Worst case, I know of a few engines for about £50 :)

If it worked quite well, which I don't particularly see why it wouldn't, I think it would work on similar principals to NOS??

Many thanks, all thoughts welcome,

Callum

For anybody reading this, I removed the air box and filter and sprayed some during tickover and whilst revving slightly (not sure how much revs, I was using my hand) and it made the car stutter slightly, but not stall.
The brake cleaner was going quite liquidy into the car. Was this something to do with it? Would it make a difference at high revs?
