The break and reverse lights are not working on my Smart car. The panel of brake lights across the top of the tailgate is working, its the main ones that are not. I have changed the bulbs and changed the fuse, still not working - any ideas?

My mate had the same problem on his volvo, he said "it was the circuit hub thing - the expensive bit".
And that was a non-dealer repair!

Same thing happened on an Uno I had years ago - just the brake lights not the reverse. Ended up being a little switch under the pedal that cost less that £2 and I was able to change it myself.
Its just cold and dark out there and everything is ass backwards on this car. Ill just take it to my mechanic on Weds and see what he says.
It won't be the brake light switch if your 3rd brake light it working.
I have a vague recollection that there's some kind of connection between the queerbox and the reversing light switch.

All fixed for the grand sum of £10. Dont ask me what was wrong, I have no idea.
But we might have another Smart owner with the same problem pop up, how will we be able to help them

But you tried at least, that's what counts
If only my mate had that problem. I had to mess about for ages with his car - the bulbs were a doddle to get out, a real PITA to replace. The bulbs were intact, as were the fuses & that was the limit of my expertise (as we were on hols at the time so no tools to hand.)
