General BP Ultimate Diesel
i've been told its not worth using, its not a diesel equivalent to optimax/super unleaded, its over £1 a litre everywhere ive seen it
I used it once or twice. Couldn't detect an improvement over Shell although I tried to make myself believe!
However, the pumps were (are?) labelled UItimate whether they were petrol or Diesel; and I put petrol in my tank, not knowing there was Ultimate petrol as well as the Diesel I had seen advertised. Both fuels are marked 'Ultimate' and the livery on the pumps is/was? two shades of blue, so hardly noticable in the artificial half-light of winter. My garage sorted me out
worship: ) and BP reimbursed me for the whole cost - which is/was their standard practice - but I haven't set wheel in BP station since.
This doesn't help you I know, but it makes me feel better. That little episode added ten years, and I'll never forgive BP for their crappy pump design.
I think Ozzie finds the supermarket stuff as good as any.

I did the whole ultimate diesel thing for about 5 tanks, and thought wow, car is going better.
Then without thinking, used tescos derv for the points. Been doing this for a while.
Only until I saw this thread did I remember.... Car is going as well as ever!!! no lack of performance...
Glad tescos take fuel cards.... I get all the points from the cars at work as well! £50 to brim a mondeo tdci 130

I did the same as Ulpian and put some in to a company van by mistake when trying to get the double Nectar points!. I only put in about a gallon before I realised I was putting in petrol. Cant really say there's much difference in performance anyway.
I've tried ultimate diesel in my Stilo and noticed a slight increase in performance only very slight though. can't really say weather it's worth the extra pennys though.
It is better than supermarket fuel, but maybe not in obvious performance. They have developed it into a cleaner, higher quality diesel, with cleaning compounds a lot like the petrol version. Over time you would notice, with cleaner burn, and less rubbish in the fuel filter.
Of course you could buy Shell diesel which has all the above and is priced usually the same or at most a penny more than the supermarkets.

the nearest shell station to me is about 10 miles away and i'm too lazy to travel that far for diesel
The thing with Ultimate is it is kinder to the fuel system (especially the fuel pump) than supermarket stuff so it is better for overall longevity
