General Bootlid restoration + hinge reverse

A long time ago I started a project to fit reverse hinges to my bootlid and convert to a 500R rear panel at the same time.
Progress has been slow to say the least, but it's starting to come together now.
I started the thread on the 126 forum so I've copied that thread below and I'll update this thread as things progress.

A little progress, less than I would like!
There were three holes in the bootlid that I wanted to fill in. Time for a bit of welding.


I borrowed a piece of brass bar from work because it doesn't let weld stick to it. I covered the hole from the outside with said bar then welded it from the inside.


Once welded I cleaned the weld up on the outside and I'm pretty happy with it. I think my photography skills are getting worse though!
