General Boot won't open

Hi I'm having problems with the boot lid as it won't open, I've changed the mech and still not working properly. When the lid is full open it works fine when it's closed won't work!!

Any ideas anyone

chances are the wiring in the boot hinge area (left corner rubber duct) has broken / chafed away

Hi Andy thanks for that would that mean a whole new loom?? Is it easy enough to remove the duct to check??

Does it depress at all or make a sound?
My GP did that for a few weeks over summer, but I changed the battery and it sorted it.

When it's open it works fine makes the click noise like it's releasing! When it's closed it doesn't work
