Hey guys,

Driving home form work yday and noticed the rear speakers in my boot have started to "buzz". After a closer look i noticed the old speakers can simply unscrew so i was wondering if there was any chance i could just change them over for a new better set? I dont reeli wanna cut into the parcel shelf as sometimes i need to put the back seets down for work so parcel shelf is oftenly removed. So my question is:

Is there any way i could replace the speakers in the boot and simply plug in to the existing wiring? I have a mk2b 5dr.

Cheers

Not 100% sure but I think they are 10cm speakers? Any speakers the same size should screw into the existing holes and plug straight in using the existing wires.

The only difference my be the plug at the end of the wire might not fit the new speaker but the wires can be separated and plugged in using some spade end connectors.

Yeah, you can. I replaced mine with a pair of Sony 10cm speakers for £40. I just took the yellow adapter off the original cable and the wiring fits perfectly with the new speakers then. Mine is a Mk2 5dr, don't imagine it would be much different.

Tbh, they aren't as good quality as some 6x9's would be, mainly because of the sheer size. I've had to put the fader +2 to my front speakers when I turn it up, because people complain it's too loud in the back haha. But like I said, because of the size the bass isn't incredible, but it's amazing for the price.

Here they are if you wanna take a look:

Just take off the yellow boxy looking thing (should just be clipped together) and the cables just slot in. Like a USB.

Funny enough thats the ones i was lookin at yday lol

So i wouldnt need to change anything about the system? Just connect up and away i go?

Yep. Only thing I found with them is that the screw holes don't line up properly, so could only put 2 screws in, but they're secure enough with 1 so it should be fine!
