boot probs

HI I am new to these forums and was wondering if anyone can help.

I cant open the boot.

Its a right pain and the car is completely unlocked it just wont open.

Any ideas gratefully recieved

What car?

Most (all?) are cable controlled, but the actual mechanisms vary a great deal.
