All Fiats have a one-hit window button on the driver's side only, this is normal. And Fiat is not the only make. Something to do with child safety I believe.

Add mine to the list of Pandas with faulty boot mechanisms... not the sort of thing you want to go wrong at half four in the morning, in the pouring rain!
Took it to the dealer this afternoon, and they had never seen or heard of this problem before! Was tempted to say it was a known fault, but would likely have been fed nonsense instead (this unfortunately happens alot when you're 30, and reporting car faults:bang
. Parts are on order and should be getting replaced next week with the rubber window seal.

Apparently there is no stock anywhere and the dealer says they have raised the issue with Fiat directly. Interesting that other people have had the same problem with their Pandas - thank goodness for this forum!

I'm picking up my new Panda tomorrow and I'm not liking all these problems that people are having.
No, not reassuring is it.
They are built in a 'state of the art' factory in Naples, whereas the old, reliable, Pandas came from Poland.
Any new car can have a fault or two, but it looks like we are seeing the usual Fiat list of chronic failures here, often ones that they never properly resolve. Let's hope the wiper mechanisms don't start collapsing as well.
I would have thought that, given the market situation and the fact that the factory is mostly closed, they might have spent all their energies refining the product to maintain an improving image.
More fool me I suppose.

Note to Boris: You will probably drive away in your new Panda absolutely delighted. Perhaps someone on this forum can list "all the problems" - is there really more than just one or two, including the odd boot-lid issue?
Having done 2,000 miles in a Twin-Air, and not had any issues, at all, problems are hopefully rare.

I'm going to enjoy my new ca moment tomorrow regardless. My previous car was a Clio that I had from new for 11 years without a single problem. The Panda has got a tough act to follow.

Not really, the fact it isn't French, and has been converted to RHD in fully is instant win
No problems with my boot mech. so far. To button opens all door, bottom button opens just the boot. No sticking with the door seals. had it a month will have to write a review.

I picked up the new Panda this afternoon. First impressions on the drive home were good. When I got home I remembered this thread and checked the tailgate release. On my car the top button only opens the doors, not the tailgate. Bottom button unlocks the tailgate as expected. I can live with this for the moment but will bring it up with the dealer next week.
Just wondering, if the tailgate can be opened with the bottom button, why are the failures being attributed to the release mechanism in the boot?

Because opening it with the remote isn't suppose to be the only method of opening the boot.

Can you confirm this should be the correct operation of the tailgate release?
1) the top button unlocks all doors and the tailgate. The tailgate can then be opened by pulling up on the handle on the boot.
2) the bottom button unlocks and pops open the tailgate.
If this is correct then it looks like there is a mechanical problem with the tailgate on my car.

Just been out to check. The top button unlocks all doors and allows the latch of the boot to open the boot, whereas the bottom button 'pops' up the boot and allows the boot to be lifted with or without using the 'latch'.

Thanks for confirming that catnash. Looks like a return visit to the dealer is in order.
My dealer said they have ordered the parts they "think are the culprits, and will take it from there". Should be available next week apparently! We shall see, and will post the progress of the issue in due course.

The boot on mine is playing up AGAIN.
Sometimes when locking the car up the indicators flash more than normal, best go check the boot again. Yep it's still open, although the rest of the car is locked :bang:
Otherwise the car is fine in every other way

Chorley Motor Group have just rung to say the boot handle parts are in stock, and also the replacement door beading. Have booked in for Monday. Also told them that I have the intermittent number plate light fail warning, which they've agreed to check out.
Fingers crossed.
