Could anybody tell me the method for adjusting or removing the boot lid rubber stoppers.

There's two sets of left handed threads and at the moment its blowing my mind.

Adjusting needed in order to stop scuffing on rear bumper

Had a few minutes spare so decided to have another look at this.

I understand how the mechanism works now, adjustable teeth for adjusting how far the stopper moves outwards and a locking thread to lock it in place.

However, every time I adjust it to the correct position and shut the boot, the teeth clip back into the original position.

Does anybody know how I can keep the teeth at the position i want without them snapping back?

I feel FIAT have over-designed such a simple part that on other cars is far more effective.

I had a the same problem with these too, even bought 2 new ones so I could break an old one open to see how they worked.

My best guess was that you fit them to the tailgate opening with the ratchet fully extended then close the tailgate. Then open the tailgate and turn the ring to lock them.

Have to agree with you, they seem to be a bit over engineered to perform such a simple task.

Dave.

How do these things come out, do you just pull them? I need to replace one and it seems tight in there.

Thanks

Phil

Can anyone help me on this one? I have managed to pull my old one out with pliers but broke it in the process. I need another one but am going to a breakers to get one. I want to avoid breaking that one so is there a proper way to remove it?

Thanks
Phil

Would it be possible for you to provide me with a part number Davren?

Thanks
Phil

Part number is 60659963. Item 15 in the diagram below. Price was about £4 each, but my copy of ePER is November 2013 so they may have gone up.

I've replaced both stoppers with new ones. This has stopped the boot clunking and banging over rough road and speed bumps. However there is now an annoying near enough constant rattlin. It only happens when driving and it sounds like loose plastic or plastic making contact with another part. This happened before though but it stopped when i removed the stoppers. I can't pin point where its coming from but it sounds like it could be at the bottom of thd tailgate. I'm wondering if its something to do with the latch. Anybody have any ideas or advice on what this could be? I've fixed one issue and now got another!

Thanks
Phil

Don't worry people, i have sorted it (y)

It was to do with the boot latch and striker, i think thats the name for it. For some reason the 2 parts were causing a rattle. Anyway some thin self adhesive foam wrapped round the striker has stopped it.

This might be useful to anybody else who may have a similar problem....or maybe not :D
