What size enclosures have you got for the subs?

erm... i havn't...

Well think of it this way, imagine a gun with the back end of the barrell missing... the bullet will not come out of the barrel... the same wy without an enclosure the effect of the sub moving will just move the sub, not the air (the air moving is what you can hear...)

Indeed they do else you wont get any bass at all!!!!!

Make sure the enclosure is the right size, iirc theres an faq on here some where, if not then www.carstereo.com has loads of faqs and information on everything ICE related. Helps you understand the principles behind speaker design.

Plus don't forget that subs can be mono, whereas the 6X9s need proper stereo placement, or all the sound coming from the back will be totally mono. Left should be left and right should be right. Thats another reason why 6x9s shouldn't go in parcel shelves! (yes I know ours are there but we don't have the money for componants yet! plus we might be gettin a new car, see the other thread! :D )

i agree, but that will have to wait untill my dosh increases *skint* (n)

is the encloseure gonna have to be air tight?

most important part is to make sure it's the right volume and has the right amount of baffling. You should be able to find that out on the net. and you need to work out whether you want it ported or not, iirc porting is set to a certain frequency, so one sub could take the lows while one takes the mid. If not i'm sure someone'll correct me!!
