I have a 2001 brava and its suffering from condensation in the boot, all around the spare tyre area under the boot carpet. Its making the boot wet, Anyone else have the same problem or any solutions would be much appreciated. Ive laid a piece of underlay between the car floor and the carpet and its seems to be working but I'm worried there is more to it than that.

Hi there!

Check your tailgate/rear window seals are OK. Also check the high level brake light to make sure that the securing nuts have been tightened up properly. If you push gently against the light, there should be no movement. I have this problem at the mo because the two central securing nuts and brackets are missing.

Hope it's an easy fix.

I had the same problem in my bravo and it was my rear windown squirter tube was leaking and collecting in my spare wheel bit.

same here. my washer hose was unplugged, and leaking into the boot.

Many thanks to everyone for their advice. where do I find this washer hose in the boot?

Do I need to remove panels?

just the big plastic trim on the inside of the bootlid. it'll become quite clear once you've taken that off. theres only a couple of screws iirc. Then its just a few clips holding it on that will pop out if you give it a wee tug.

easist way to check before you do that is to lay down some kicthen roll, or paper around the boot opening, then use the rear window washer a good bit. if you get a big puddle appears on the tissue, and not so much on the back window, then thats the problem

I had two leaks, washer hose came off and slight leak in back light casing. The water was slowly soaking through in to the boot from the light. I just re-sealed it with stuff from Halfords.

thanks for that, I'l check it out and let you know how I get on.

I've tried all of your suggestions and checked that the seals were in place, and the back window washer tube has not come unplugged. Everything in order but the leak still there. any more suggestions, I'm at a loss.

Not having a lot of fun are you!

There is an access hatch under the boot mat for the fuel tank/sender unit, if it's missing that might be a possibility.

Otherwise, the only thing I can suggest is to strip the boot completely, mat/spare wheel etc. and dry it all out. Do as Buzz says, cover the area with kitchen towel or the like. Sit on the back seat and have someone play a hose over the rear of the car and see if you can detect where the water is getting in.
