Technical Bonnet Steaming

Just been driving parked up went to the asda and when i returned to my car the bonnet was steaming due to all this rain.
Why would my engine be getting so hot yet the temp gauge in the car says its half way ?

There was another time couple months back when i first noticed my engine seeming to be rather warm.. it had just been raining i parked my car for about 3-5mins and when i drove off where my car was parked it was bone dry

Is there anything i should have a look at ?

You might check the temp sender, but more likely it's nothing more than heat build up under the bonnet because you're driving slowly, thus no air flow.

Generally -- try it on a few cars -- you'll find thaty the rocker cover becomes uncomfortably warm to touch.

Dont forget you have a red hot cat and exhaust under there
All that spray + heat = steam

This builds up and becomes a slow cooker under the hood

Whip the bonnet up and check your roasters aint burning up

You'll soon see where the steam is originating from

You'd be surprised even with how hot a cat is - it takes alot of time to burn moisture off
