Technical HELP PLEASE - Bonnet lever

Morning!

Last night I opened my bonnet as I am going on a long drive today and the bonnet lever is open and the bonnet does not close, it feels springy still but it acts how it does when it's open

Any ideas?

Sounds like the cable is stuck in the sleeve, what happens if you push the lever shut, does the bonnet then lock on the latch?
Sounds like the cable needs replacing, or at the least taking out and lubricating.

Could the catch have gotten closed over the jaws of the lock and is preventing the striker on the bonnet from dropping in fully?
Stick a screwdriver into the lock from front to back. Lift the release lever at the lock and lift the screwdriver up.
