I've got a major problem with bonnet release in that it doesn't work. No matter how hard I pull on the cable, it doesn't seem to move far enough to release the catch. It looks like the cable might have stretched a bit.

Is there any other (hopefully fairly simple) way to pop the catch so that I can get in to top up the wiper fluid?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi,
had this problem a couple of years ago, don't do what i did and hit the bonnet in fustration otherwise you get a ripple effect on it.

I finally got my bonnet open by using a very large and long screwdriver to push the mechanism back rather than it being pulled by the cable. if you look through the air-intake/grill you can just make out how it works. once it's open you can check/adjust etc the bits are causing the problem.

Cheers

Jeff

Thanks for that Jeff.

In the end I had two people pulling up on the bonnet while someone else pulled the cable. Turns out the whole thing was so badly gunged that the catch in the bonnet had stuck to the part that the cable retracts. A lot of WD40 and grease later and the whole thing now works as designed. :)
