I have lost the flanged bolt that fixes the the rearmost exhaust box hanger to the body of my 1.4 Stilo. Does anyone know the correct bolt size so that I can get a replacement? I think it had a 16mm head.

Thanks so much for this Ralf. It was actually the garage that lost the bolt and then used a self tapper screwed into the body through the little rectangular hole on the edge of the hanger! Not sure if this will be strong enough to take the weight.

Hmmm...

Check that the screw hole is clear first, in that case. The old bolt might have seized in there and then snapped off when they tried to remove it, in which case it would need drilling out first and probably re-tapping.

My bolt (2004 model) came out intact when I replaced the hanger last year but it's right in the wrong place to catch spray off the rear wheels and gets rusted in. I had to ease mine out with a lot of penetrating oil and WD40... hence my suggestion to go "stainless" with any new bolt.

If the screw hole is clear then fit a bolt. A self tapper sounds like there's some bodgery afoot.

In fact I took the old bolt out (quite easily) and gave it to the mechanic along with a new hanger. I have a tow bar and just couldn't find the space to shove the new hanger over the prongs on the silencer.
Anyway, the mechanic either lost the bolt or didn't understand what it was for and just shoved a self tapper through the little rectangular hole in the outside of the hanger. I only discovered this when I got home.
So, the screw hole is clear and I should be able to fit the bolt you suggested.
