Hi All,

(used to have a 1.2 GP hence my name - need to change it i think!!)

Just bought myself the BMC replacement filter for my Active 150 T-Jet.
Been looking where the airbox is and it looks like it could be a bit of a pain in the arse to fit!! :bang::bang:
Do you have to take the wheel off and remove the arch liner to access the airbox??? I have done this mod to every car i have had and never had any problems. Just a bit of advice for a newbie (y) (y).

Have any T-Jet owners out there bought the BMC Element and did you notice any difference in performance and Fuel consumption???

I would be interested to find out the pros and cons to the filter, but seeing as abarth use this filter for there upgrade on the gp i would and will take that as evidence enough.(y)

I think you have to remove wheel and inner lining yes :/

I am contemplating trying to replace the airbox with a CDA system from BMC.. dont know whether it will fit or not.

It will fit, but is not better than the standard airbox. To make the CDA better than the standard air intake some more modification is needed. You are better off with the filter element in the standard airbox.
 
There is no need to remove anything.Lift the car a bit and you have two or three screws to remove the bottom lid of the airbox. It's not complicated. I have the same filter, but i didn't notice any improvement ( it's subjective )..

Sounds ok (y) So i should not have to remove the wheel & liner. i Will jack the car up a little and have a look for the screws. Should be easy!!!!

To make the CDA work properly it needs binning the convulated aluminium pipe. Furhter you need to fit a trumpet to the end of the filter. I would not get a cold air feed attached to it (there is a number of reasons for it, I don't want to go into right here).

Also it woul help to get away with the OE pipes before the turbo as attaching the CDA to the plastic pipe is rather a bodge job.

And finally I would rework the CDA internally to improve flow.

Adding up all of this you are much cheaper with a twin cone filter of the type I use. A number of people who criticise this filter because it is fairly cheap and made in Taiwan. But not only me but professionals in Europe, Australia and North America have made flow test confirming that these filters flow better than any other filter on the market.

The CDA can be made flow very well, but it is rather costly, which is the reason why I favour other solutions achieving similar or better results at much reduced cost.
 
Ive had nothing but trouble with cone filters in the past, they are too bad for heat soak and cause massive flat spots, ive never had any problems with CDA BMC infact i cant fault them.. even tested a few on the rollers and they shown good gains on my old cars.. currently got a diesel bravo so im not going to bother with putting a airfilter on dont feel it needs it as it made good power after the remap.

aha... phew ...well... so youre saying a BMC cone filter would be cheaper and better ? would a GSR inductionkit be a better choise then?
