Hello,

I have a 1992 Fiat Tipo 2.0 16v that is completely stock. I bought an BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox for some extra horsepower and an better trottle response.

I only have one question, when following the pipes starting at the inlet manifold, there is one big black pipe going to the original airbox (and a smal pipe connected going back to the engine). From the original airbox there goes a pipe down where it eventually connects to a big steel box, looks like an carbon airbox but only made of steel, is it nessecary to keep this big steel thing or can it be removed??? And whats the purpous of it???

Sry for my bad English. If its not clear what I mean pleas feel free to ask.

Hi Daniël,

The box you're speaking of is a resonation box, I believe I read somewhere that the 3door version doesn't even have it. If I'm correct it silences the car a bit.

(extra dutch explanation)
Het is een resonatiepijp. Dient om te voorkomen dat de auto een boel kabaal maakt, sociaal gedrag richting "normale" gebruikers maar ik vind t niet erg als ie wat meer kabaal maakt en directer zijn lucht kan happen ;)

Have you taken it off yet? How is it sounding? ^^

Thanks for the info,

Sorry for the late reply, on the way back home I heard a loud bang under my feet, a leaky exhaust ... Just drove to the garage to have a look under the car t see it was the flexible piece. The part is ordered but have not yet enjoyed the bmc cda ... Under the humming of the leaky exhaust I can already hear the bmc cda is doing his job but it pulls a lot less because of the leaky exhaust. When this is made I will make a movie.

Here some pictures of the CDA under the hood:

Maybe the tight corner behind the bmc cda is too tight but I will see when I have driven it without the broken exhaust.
