Anybody know if there is any sites with kind of a timetable for the blueyonder speed upgrades?

I've looked around the net and on the blueyonder site and can't find anything

Yeah Tiscali were the same, we'll do it when we get round to it was there attitude, just check you connection settings when you log on.

I know the feeling, chuffing Pipex have informed me the Carlisle exchange is the most difficult in the UK to upgrade speedwise and they have no idea when they're going to be able to do it so I'm stuck on 512kbps for the forseeable future while the entire of the rest of the country is on 1-2mbps :bang:

got this email today

Dear customer, To enable us to make improvements to your service, including the recently announced speed increases, we will soon be carrying out some work on the network in your area. To avoid any inconvenience we wanted to let you know in advance of this happening, as it may cause some minor disruption to your Internet service. Disruption to your Internet service may occur at some point between today and 17 October 2005. You should only be affected for a period of around 2 hours between 10am and 5pm on the day the work is carried out. Your other Telewest services will not be impacted. For more information, visit our blueyonder service status page (http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/status). We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause you. Regards, The team at blueyonder

so looks like i'll be upgraded soon.

What will happen now that NTL have taken Telewest over?
Will the upgrade still happen?

ntl havent 'taken' over telewest! its a merger of sorts.
from what i have read ntl will take care of the infrastructure with telewest taking over the CS.
why wouldnt the upgrade take place,i got the email today! the company doesnt just decide over coffee and a sticky bun to offer these things.this is a move to stop customers moving to faster competition. also the sky+ type upgrade to the Tv system is to stop people moving there TV channels over to sky

Woh woh woh we are talking about NTL and telewest here ;) Sticky bun and coffee decisions are highly likely ;)

We haven't really had problems with NTL but currently parents are paying over the odds for their connection to avoid the stupidly low download limit with the upgrade from 300 to 1000.

Parents were going to go to sky - why I don't know, they don't watch anything - but NTL did them a special deal for all the other channels really cheaply.

yeah well i would hope that ntl would adopt the blueyonder no limit system.that was the 1st question i asked when they called about the upgrade.if they capped my usage i would be moving providers.
the tv system stores 1 weeks TV on the system so you can watch any program at any time from the previous 7 days.
again im not to fussed about the tv but i costs no extra so handy

IF any of you are looking for a fast ISP www.bethere.co.uk

24mbit adsl2+ for £24 a month 1.3mbit upload

Plan to try it myself in a couple months when i finish on this 3 month cheap bulldog thing i got.

Telewest is following the lead of NTL by increasing broadband access speeds to 10 meg.

From next month, the cable company is to begin work upgrading its network on a region-by-region basis. The work is expected to be completed early next year.

Once completed, punters currently hooked up to Telewest's entry-level 512K service will see their speed increased to 2 meg. Those currently hooked up to 1 meg will see their speed accelerate to to 4 meg while the rest will get the full 10 meg.

Prices will remain the same, which means a 10 meg service should cost around £35 a month.

Said Eric Tveter, Telewest president and COO: "There have been a few ISPs making a fuss about 2Mb services recently, but that often represents the maximum speed they can offer at the moment.

"We're making 2Mb our minimum speed and we'll also be offering a choice of affordable 4Mb and 10Mb services for more demanding internet users.

"What's more, our customers will be able to make full use of this extra bandwidth because we won't be introducing caps and all the new speeds will be available across the network."

Which is different to the speed upgrade announced by NTL earlier this week. It plans to give all its punters 10 meg broadband but they are to be charged for how much they use.

not looking to move.know i can get faster packages but as i said i have had 3 trouble free years. just out of interest have oyur bulldog months been trouble free?saw there was a thing on watchdog about them.

sorry to revive it but only just seen it my bulldog has been fgine but only had it in a few days. BUt its bloody quick i just started a 58mb file downloading literally took a minute. I updated my router today to its latest firmware and it made a massive difference before my best speeds were around 3mbit. Its now working at its full 8mbit without a problem and my upload is over 512kb.

But will deffinately be trying the bethere.co.uk service out 24mbit for £24 a month even if i only get half that speed its still worth the cost. one of the cheapest services around right now. And you get a free wireless router with it.

but a quality sticky bun :D
to be fair i havent really had any probs with telewest in 3 years of use.
the sky+ box did interest me but the new TW software version seems like a good idea

i know everyone is different and you shouldnt make opinions on a company by just one persons experiences, but my parents had their telewest set top box replaced 6 times in six months and were still having problems. i had my wireless connection through the box and had constant problems. all telewest could say was its probably your 2 month old laptop thats the problem. my parents promptly went to sky after putting up with 3 years of a sub standard service. and since ive been on a separate bb connection i havent had a single issue.

but like i say that maybe just one isolated incident.

back on topic lol separate it may be my bb is still with telewest as i was under contract. so is 512 upgrading to 2mbps? :D and the new software does sound great but dont think we will be getting it! :p
