Hiya everyone,

I've wanted a fiat punto as my first car and i've heard something about a red key and a blue key saying that you should have both and it's confusing me.

Some people have said you need both some have said you don't, I don't want to waste my money on a car if it will cost me more to fix it than it's worth.

Which puntos have the red and blue key??

I NEED HELP!!

xx
:bang:

This is my limited understanding of the situation:

There are at least TWO Fiat key code systems. Code I (the earlier) and Code II (the later).

With Code I the owner was supplied with 3 keys. A Red/Burgundy Master Key and up to two Blue keys. The Blue keys would do/cater most key required functions but functions like programming new keys, installing new engine ECUs etc. required the Master Red Key.

With Fiat Code II system I believe the 'Master Key' concept was dropped and keys became master indepedent.

As for which Puntos used which system I can't comment.

The early modles were the code one type. If you check the key blade you will see a circle if this as a no2 present this is code 2( no red key )

Oh I think I understand it now.:worship: Do you know if the fiat punto mk2b (2004) Has a red key and blue key?

Thanks(y)

Only Mk1 Punto's had a red key, look at your key blade, if it has a number triangle inside 2 semi-circles with a '2' below it, you only have blue keys to worry about.

The disadvantage of this system, if you lose a key or otherwise need/want a new one programmed up it can only be done by a dealer and is expensive (£100+).
