Blue key fails to activate/deactivate alarm or central locking

A couple of days ago my key fob stopped working (I only have one blue key and the red key). I changed the battery but it still doesn't work. Does the receiver also require batteries? (I presumed it ran from the car battery). As far as I know the alarm system is a standard one fitted by Fiat.

Any ideas fella's?

Open the key up and check the solder connections on the activating/deactivating microswitch.

Had exactly the same problem where I had to press the key in a certain way whilst pressing the button to set or unset the alarm. Went on for months before the thing refused to do anything. I few minutes with a soldering iron cured it.

Good call. Opened up the key and checked the other side of the PCB, the switch has detached itself from the board! Will have to dig out my soldering iron.

Cheers...
