Hello, I own a 2013 Fiat Qubo. I think I have a Blue and Me issue. It started with the phone not connecting, then it sorted itself out and was ok for months. Then it went again, followed by the odometer flashing, the start/stop disconnected (never used anyway), the fog lights won't switch on, it's as though I've pressed 'menu' but haven't and the steering wheel buttons don't work except for the radio. Then to add to the fun, the engine management light comes on too and when that's on it doesn't have the 'oomph' when accelerating. If I park with one side of the car slightly raised and get back in it, it's fine for a few miles and then it all starts again. It's normally fine in the morning too. A mechanic has plugged in the computer and it has no engine issues just dashboard errors showing. He's not being very helpful with regard to sorting the issue out and I don't want to go to a main dealer due to cost (just spent a fortune having the timing chain replaced!) Can I, as a 61 year old non technical person, unplug this B&M module myself? I think it's under the drivers seat (well something is there not sure what it is) but I don't know what/how to disconnect it, if I do disconnect it will that sort the problem? Thanks.

On most models disconnection is simply disconnecting the wiring plug. You may have toflip a locking lever op then the plug should slide easily out. ThenB&M unit should be repairable. A computer reset (Proxi alignment) is required to stop the flashing milage after removal . This is like a reboot of a PC where it re recognizes the installed components. Its definitely a DIY job. I did a guide in the 500 section which will give you an idea of how simple it is. You need diagnostic software or MES home software to do the proxi. We have some members on the MES register who may be able to help you.

Thank you, I will look for your guide. Angela.

It could be two separate issues?

B&M failure would cause flashing mileage, battery drain & s/s failure

But I don't think it would trigger EML or loss of power. Has this happened since new timing chain?
Hi yes. I'm sat in a garage at the moment, they have identified another problem not sure if related tho.

Well bit of an update and interesting one too. After rmjbn1 asking if I'd had the timing chain replaced when the issues started, I mentioned this to the garage (so thanks RMJBN1). Long story short....B&M issue - computer showed 'battery disconnecting' error, they tightened the what nots on the battery. They then cleaned the module with high pressure air. The EML issue was not caused by the B&M problem (again thanks RMJBN1 for suggesting it wasn't connected) - the computer showed an oil pressure problem! They removed the solenoids and found silicone had been used to seal them and had gone into the actual solenoids, so they cleaned it out, put it back whilst we wait for a new one, checked the oil filter - there were bits of silicone in that (car was serviced 3 weeks ago so had had a new filter etc), the oil switch down the front of the engine was leaking, so that got replaced and what I thought was a bit of string hanging under the car, was what was left of my auxiliary belt! So, totally shocked, but delighted to say the car is running amazingly well now. It will go back this week for the solenoid to be replaced (not taking any chances) and this garage will now be my mechanics of choice in the future. If the B&M module starts playing up again, they know how to remove it and will send it to a company they use for the modules. So I'm now one very happy lady owner.

Happy to hear it's sorted and you have your car behaving properly again 🙂

Do we think the silicone that caused the problems was a result of the recent timing chain?
And a failed aux belt so soon after, that's disappointing
Yes they think the ones who did the chain had sealed the solenoid, very annoying. Thanks again as I probably wouldn't have thought to mention the timing chain to them if you hadn't reminded me!
