Technical Blowing Exhaust

Most flexi's are cut out and the new one put over and can be fitted with exhaust clamps or welded back in place..

Got my blowing exhaust sorted, though its still no as quite as when i first bought it. The guy said its wasnt a great fit.... oh good!

Is it hard to refit a flexijoint then? He said i might needa backbox, would getting one, and having one fitted help?

Got my power back though, and mpg. :)

might as well replace the lot all together

About the flexi joint. I've had the car lifted, and tested - the flexi joint is completely fried. It looks ok though...

Anyway, the rest seems fine, and I want the flexi joint cut out, and a new one inserted. The outer diameter of the pipe is 53 mm.

These are my options: 46, 51, 57 or 64 mm diameter.

Should I get the 57 mm diameter and get it clamped or welded on the outside? Should the joints be welded flush to each other? Or should I get the 46 mm to fit into the existing pipe, which then will be a bottleneck... Is welding a good idea, as it will be slightly impossible to weld the top of the joints?

Regards, Morten.

Have you got any performance exhaust places over there with you Morty..?

If you have ..then go for the 51 mm one which they could supply and they will swage the in inlet/outlet [expand them ]to fit over the exiting pipe work then weld in situ..

Unfortuantely no exhaust experts around here. Had many options where I lived earlier, but I usually go to an independent garage that I actually trust. They will take both the 51 mm and 57 mm to see what will make the best fit. No expanding tools at hand, but they plan to weld it tights.

Just make it work, I told them. So I'll see next week. It's booked at monday morning. Looking forward to just listening to the GSR dragon's breath instead of the exhaust coarse panting...

Morten.
