Technical Bleeding the coolant + alarm location

Hi - I'm the proud owner of an 08 Lounge that I've been spending the last few months servicing and repairing - clutch, timing, suspension, steering, you name it. I managed to get the engine started today and have a question about how to bleed the coolant on this model.

I've topped up the coolant tank to max level, and I'm seeing a bit of conflicting info on how to best get the coolant round the system. The Haynes manual says to open 2x bleed screws and let the coolant make its way around - however I can only seem to find the high one just below the throttle. Some places are saying just to let the engine run and it'll bleed itself but I have a coolant code coming up and the fan kicks in almost immediately so I'm reluctant to run the engine much further as I don't want to cause any damage.

Second question - the car seems to have come with an alarm fitted and for the life of me I can't remember where I unmounted it from when I was taking everything apart. So if anyone has any advice there too it would be much appreciated!

I forget the code but its a 1.2 litre

EDIT: Google tells me it's 169.A.4000

Alarms on the 500s seem pretty rare but it definitely has one - i may have set it off by accident a couple times

My 1.4 had no special procedure. I just pumped pipes and used expansion tank top-up.
What's the alarm look like? Fiat or aftermarket?

Okay - what do you mean by 'pumped the pipes'? Like you just hand squeezed them to get the coolant through, and didn't have to use the bleed screws?

Alarm is a Fiat one I think - it looks like the one attached. I've had a look at ePer but struggling to find it on there

Yup. Maybe different on your 1.2. But pumping the pipes will flush air. Put your heater on highest with engine running and just bleed through the expansion tank. Keep an eye on engine temp and patience.

Appreciate it - I'll give it a go.

Alarm isn't important but it's just hanging loose in my engine bay at the minute so would like to know where it fits if possible!

Ok. Daftie here thought you meant the connector end.
Alarms are normally fitted in a place not readily accessible. No science or engineering to it. Not my priority but thieves shouldn't be able to easily disable.

Even after a year I still hear bubbles, that's after Fiat replaced the cam belt.
Earth strap?
Rear wiring issue?
Rear beam rusting?
Sump?
Be prepared for limp mode once out on the road at 60+
