Hey all.
Have an urgetn query.
My cars eating break fluid but havent been able to get her into the garage yet, so have just kept filling hr up.
So out of out today and break and clutch failed on me.
Been told i'll have to bleed it now cos its got so bad.
Is this true and if so anybody got a lamens quick guide to doing it.
Theres is still a little fluid left in the tank so not sure if it will need bleeding??
Thanks

If the clutch is not working then its mostly a clutch slave cylinder problem, and its leaking there. The commonly fail on all fiats after a certain mileage. The clutch master cylinder is fed via a pipe from the brake master clinder resivoir. the feed pipe is positioned about halfway on the level of the resivoir so that if the clutch slave cylinder fails you wont lose all the fluid for the brakes.
This is the reason theres still a bit of fluid left in your brake resivoir. Your brakes dont need to be bled yet. Get a new slave cylinder put on and then this needs to be bled, theres just no point in topping it up anymore, infact you probably wont be able to bleed it anymore depending on the leak.

Also noticed your brakes arnt working aswell, check all pipes for rust and leaks, you should see fluid on the ground. The front wheelarch pipes are favourites to rust first.

brake bleeding is a simple job but first you have to repair any leaks and renew leaking brake pipes. As Ned said, look for fluid under wheel arches and on tyres. once you have fixed all leaks bleed each wheel in turn, all the time keep the fluid topped up,You can do this easy if you get a rubber pipe specially made for the job

You can get em from you local motor shop: put the correct size ring spanner on the bleed nipple and then fit the pipe slacken the nipple and put the pipe into a container to catch fluid that will be lost.Press the brake pedal half a dozen times and close the bleed nipple. Do the same with the other wheels but for the rear wheels have the weight of the car on the wheels, This is for the load actuating valve. When yo have done all 4 wheels test the brakes.Any spongines, do em again until you have decent brakes
