250 quid at a tinters...could diy for 20% of the cost...........

True you can but make sure you don't leave any bubbles init! or do like some lad did with his clio and spray them with actually black paint! 100% darkness, now that was just wrong!

diy can be difficult to get a good finish, It cost me £60 to do my car, because I did most of the windows twice because I wasn't happy with it, and I couldn't do the boot, although on the punto its probably easier to do the boot.

I don't think so, you can go dark as you like behind the B pillar, but there's a percentage of light that has to pass through (think its 70%). I don't think it would be wise to tint forward of the B pillar, for visibility reasons, and the police are perfectly entitled to pull you over and if its obviously darker than legal, they can make you either 1 - remove them there and then or 2 - order your car off the road.

But this Volvo came out of the factory like this- he lives across the road and it was a company car. I doubt Volvo would let it out if it was illegal??

Im just wondering whether or not aftermarket tinting experts can do this

The problem with doin tints at home is your in your own environment, rather than a professional setup, which means ur open to dust, aspetos, germs etc spoiling the finish when it is curing as the windows will be marked!!

Id listen to what the others have been sayin and save up for the professionals, these DIY jobs never work out!

my windows get very dark on sunny days i guess its photo ray or something

A thinly spread mixture of PVA glue and marmite should do the trick...

i have just tried this and asked my neighbours for initial reactions.

it seems " you either love it or hate it"

the best place to get your windows tinted i think is Tint R in nottingham, it cost me 150 quid for my punto, i had the legal limit on the front 30% i think then on the back 3 i had it the blackest of black!
it looks proper mint!
the bloke there is sound and theres a few nice places in nottingham plus there a motor spares shop near by with some good gear in.

Do it in your house........not that open to dust, easy access to blankets. Can have the radio on while you're doing it, and it don't matter if its cold! :D
