I need to have a permanent 12v 3A supply in the cabin to power some equipment but for the life of me I am struggling!
My first thought was to re wire the existing 12v cigarette lighter but I cannot get the fuse box out! Then I thought I'd just run a fused line into the cabin direct from the battery but cannot get under the scuttle to the aperture in the bulkhead!

I'm sure it's very easy but it both seem to defeat me so any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I have a 06 plate Grand Punto Active 1.2l.

A spur from the cigarette lighter would be easiest. You don't need to get to it at the fusebox end, you could get to it in the centre console. They are usually rated 15a so a 3a load won't trouble it; just don't plug some massive heater in at the same time. The fuse should protect the circuit even if you do.

Thanks James, but the cigarette lighter is a switched 12v supply, I need a permanent 12v.

I can do the electrics, its the mechanicals I'm struggling with!

See my tow bar wiring guide (in Grande punto guides) big fat live under dash fuse box. Big earth behind bonnet release lever to get that remove door trim 2 screws and pull up hard.... Then pull off bonnet release (it sits on square peg) then undo securing screw/s and pull it off and you will see it remember to fuse it and take battery off whilst working on wiring layer gps have a big live there too for rear fuse box (if fitted) but front loom has it if it's not there
