Anybody know if you can use this in 2001 model 1.9jtd Multipla. Have heard different views from people but nobody else thats told me has a diesel car.
Any help or advice appreciated.:D

Ive used it on a couple of occasions mixed with what was left in the tank and the only problem i had was that if i had someone up my arse in a saxo or something carp when i put my foot down to mock them i no longer gave them the comedy diesel smoke screen which upsets me dearly.

Dont know about long term use , the garage near me doesnt stock it anymore im sure there making more on the diesel. But yes it works but cant say if there is any long term affects.

What price is Bio Diesel in your areas?

The only outlet ive seen in Carlisle (Morrisons) sell at the same price as regular diesel.

I'd be tempted to try it if it represented a saving.

Well its still advertised on there board at 85p a litre but they have not had any for ages so i dont know if thats a relevent price or not:( there was another garage doing it for 76p(y)

Lol, cheaper than Aldi's cooking oil!

Seriously though, Morrisons price is disgraceful if thats what it goes for elsewhere.

Hi,
Please note if using biofuel in your car duty of 28p has to be declared but apart from this they do recommend changing the fuel filter after the first 200 miles because it loosens particles in the tank and fuel lines but after this everthing should be fine.
The diesel engine originally run on nut oil.

You are forgetting that the first 2,500 litres you use in a year are duty free - you only need to declare if you exceed that - you do however have to keep 6 years worth of records.

You are spot on about changing the filter, you may need to do more than 1 filter change.

Don't forget the hidden advantage of biofuels, run some bio at MOT time, and your emissions will be noticeably improved (y) even more if you fill the filter with Redex and drive the car like you nicked it :D

Ive been "Googling" bio diesel and looking at this quote, bio diesel is no good for vegetarians!!.....lol

" Biodiesel is commercially produced by the esterification of energy crops such as oil seed rape (producing RME) or from waste vegetable and animal oils (from the food industry)."

I was just going to ask if a Multi 1.9 JTD (52 reg) can run on bio-diesel and found this thread! I've heard of a garage in Stock, Essex who are selling it for 98p which is a lot better than £1.20. Is it DEFINITELY safe for a normal diesel engine, and if you have a bit of normal diesel in the car, can you fill up with bio-diesel? If it's OK to use, why aren't more garages offering it?

I used to have a disel Alfa - same engine basically as the Multi, although I had the 2.4. As I recall you couldn't use pure vegatable oil, and could only use bio-diesel with up to 5% bio in it.

But then maybe that was just Fiat being conservative - http://www.biofuelsforum.com/using_biodiesel/1569-common_rail_diesel_injection.html might be useful.

And if anyone can give anecdotal evidence of actually using it with a Multipla or other Fiat diesel, even better!

EDIT - just found this - http://www.nick.hostwith.me.uk/multipla/biodiesel.html
