bin or fix?

my laptop, compaq presario 2100.

the power connector where you plug the power lead into the back has snapped in half.

was my fault, was a bit drunk can't seem to find the part anywhere, think where will do such a small part? i even thought about taking one of something else like an old portable cd player or something.

my ex had this problem with hers, sent it back to insurance company and when they gave it us back it was in an even worse state!i'd take it to a local electrical shop or a shop where they repair mobiles and they will probably be able to solder you in a new pin

If thats a no go have a look on the web and keep an eye on ebay for motherboards. I've just repaired a Dell Inspiron with the same problem. Just replaced the motherboard and all is well . £100 is cheaper than a new laptop .

i would just open it up and see for yourself.
not a hard solder since there will be enough solder on the mounting points.
just find a supplier for a power point

cheers, yeh i did think about just pulling it apart and seeing where i get put i was put off lol.

dont think it's worth getting another motherboard i only paid £90 for it. i've been after a new laptop for a while but this does, well used to do everything i needed, i'll open it up now since i'm bored

i can't see why the laptop bottom wont come off, it seems to be stuck in the middle, i can see the leed for the screen will stop it but can easily be got to.

some else i can't quite work out wont let me pulled it apart.

Hahahah the fun of taking laptops apart . Look for a hidden screw behind a sticker .

also take battery out there's screws behind there, and often under the rubber feet on the bottom.

Power sockets are part of the boards, they ain't seperate parts, if it can't be soldered it's new mobo time.
