Abarth wheels are OK, but not wide enough to take cheap sticky tyres!

For the disks, I'd file off any ridge, and get them both bead blasted -- might cost you a tenner. Get new pads (take the old ones to the factor or chances are you'll get the wrong ones!) and put 'em on.

and most of the surface orange rusty stuff can be rubbed off. so is beeding still a recomendation?

Light surface rust will be removed within the first few miles.

trick for removing a ridge on the outer diameter. remove the wheel,jack up, start the car and drive and take an angle grinder to it

Yes. You don't want to mess up the pads. Yellow Pages will find you somewhere. 10 minute job.

cool. well ill have a closer look tomorro at the disk condition. after some wire wooling ect .

if its all smooth i dont tihnk ill bead it, if i cant get it off ill beed .

also. do these callipers fit straight on. or did i forget to get something?

was i suposed to get a bracket?

Fit straight on. Sometimes you have to tweak the shround a little, but should just fit.

It's important to use decent tyres and be absolutely sure you can get off the brakes (a lot of car drivers have never learnt how to).

For preference, late type calipers identifiable by the external spring. For cheapness, pattern Alfa 155 front disks (257x20). I'd recommend not using second hand disks!

i just found a cheap new set of front discs, drilled and grooved for only 60.00 GBP made by MTEC. any ideas about the quality of these discs? they seem too good to be true for the price

They'll be OK. But unless you plan some serious mods or trackday use, plain old pattern Alfa 155 ones will work just as well and save you 20 quid or so.

true i dont plan any nutty driving around tracks but for the price they are at i might aswell benefit from the visual goodness behind my rims =D thanks for the input

think ill be taking your advice fingers and get regular alfa 155 discs. Could anyone suggest a good set of brake pads?

For street use, plain ordinary Mintex or Dunlop/Ferodo will be fine. Guide price (from a decent local factor) £20 pads, £40 disks. Take the old pads (or one of them) along as a lot of catalogues are confused/confusing and it's easier to match the shape!
