hey my car is acting very weird i dont know why but anyway...

im going through coolent some days very quick somedays not so quick... sometimes my engine stalls for no reason when im in first or second gear.. and it sounds as if it is miss firing due to the chugy exhaust.. also sometimes heating takes a while to kick in...

i checked spark plugs none are damaged and all are working, no sign of oil leaks or anything unusual and no warning lights on my dashboard to indicated anything only when im low on coolent....


any idea's what could be the problem?

100% sure its headgasket?

and how easy is it to do? possible diy? or garage job?

compression an sniff tests will tell you for sure, but i reckon it is. easy diy if you are ok with spanners

smells funny only word to describe it and there is no white stuff on the oil cap which indicates headgasket :S?


anyway ive got a new head gasket today fitting tomorrow wish me luck

what smells funny?

mayo in oil cap only indicates water in the oil, you wont get that if a gasket goes between a coolant chamber and a cylinder, you would get a missfire and loose coolant though
